The Storm2, a follow-up to last year’s well-reviewing Storm, features a sleeker design offering a more curvy finish with attractive chrome accents and a stainless steel backplate along with bright 3.25 inch capitative touchscreen offering haptic feedback technology. An intuitive interface is supplied via the new Blackberry Operating System 5.0.

Wireless features include compatibility with 3G EV-DO along with global GSM and UMTS alongside Bluetooth and WiFi support, a feature that raised much ire when it was found missing on the original Storm. 2GB of internal storage are accented by a microSD slot and included 8GB microSD card.

The Blackberry Storm2 9550 will be released through Verizon tomorrow at a price of $180 USD with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate worth $100.

Consistent references to a “family of devices” and suggestions that Verizon sees the Android market as vast indicate that American users should expect to see a wide variety of Android devices released in the coming year or two.

The biggest announcement came in the form of McAdam confirming that Verizon would support Google Voice. The promise came amid speculation that carriers would block the Google app for fear of it eating into profits from similar services already offered but this venture will apparently offer compatibility from the start with the first Verizon Android handset offering Google Voice support.
